On February 8-9, 2013, over 300 delegates from the all the parishes of the diocese of Butuan attended the Diocesan Pastoral Assembly at the St. Peter’s Seminary in Ampayon, Butuan City. The opening liturgy was celebrated at  10:00 am in the seminary chapel, presided by Bishop Juan Pueblo de Dios and concelebrated by the priests in the diocese.

After the mass Mgr. Ben Betaizar welcomed the delegates and gave the orientation. The main focus of the assembly was the drawing up of the diocesan policies and structures in relation to the Basic Ecclesial Communities.

After the lunch-break, a talk on “The Ecclesiology of BEC and Policies and Structures” was given by the guest speaker, Fr. Amado L. Picardal, CSsR, of the CBCP-BEC Committee. This was followed by an open Forum. After the merienda break, the collated result of the cosultation on policies and structures was presented. A workshop by vicariate groupings then followed. The group reporting was held after dinner.

The following morning was spent in finalizing and approval of the policies and structures of the BECs. The Diocesan Pastoral Assembly culminated with a Mass.
