The first BEC Regional Assembly of the Central Luzon Group which consists of the Dioceses of Malolos, Balanga Iba, Tarlac and Pampanga, also known as ‘MaBaITPa’ hosted by the Diocese of Tarlac, was held on May 29, 2017, at the Dominican Sisters of Our Lady of Peace Retreat House in Capas, Tarlac. with the theme: Pagbubuo ng Ugnayang BEC ng MaBaIT Pa.
Fifty-one (51) delegates participated in the whole day affair which aims to bring together and form the Basic Ecclesial Communities of the region. It started with the Invocation led by the Diocese of Iba, and a warm welcome address delivered by the Prioress General of the Congregation, Sr. Maria Luz S. Diomerez, O.P. It was followed by a brief vocation campaign by Sr. Lorna Ablog, O.P. the Vocation Directress.
The Resource Speakers are Rev. Fr. Rogelio R. Cruz, from the Diocese of Malolos and Rev. Fr. Amado Picardal, the Executive Secretary of CBCP-BEC. Fr. Roger Cruz discussed the overview of the Year of the Parish as Communion of Communities while Fr. Amado Picardal gave concrete examples and activities in promoting BEC in the parishes with the three important aspects in promoting BEC namely, Formation, Organization and Mobilization.
The sharing of experiences from the Dioceses of Iba and Balanga, as well as the inspiring message of Rev. Fr. Manolito Santos of the host diocese encapsulate the message that “Everybody belongs to the Church… God is Love. Love is the founder, Compassion is the founder.” Msgr. Antonio Dumaual of the Diocese of Balanga gave the synthesis of the talks, which was followed by an Open Forum, with the BEC priests as the panel. Bro John Gabe and Sis Rose Cosme of the Diocese of Malolos facilitated the event, with Sr. Rosemarie Garces,O.P. as the Diocesan BEC Coordinator of the host diocese.
The event culminated in a concelebrated thanksgiving Mass with the bishop of Tarlac, Most Rev. Bsp. Enrique V. Macaraeg, DD.
It is everybody’s hope that the Diocese of Nueva Ecija may one day join the Central Luzon Group, thus the acronym-MaBaIT Pa-NE.
