Diocese of Naval Holds BEC Leaders’ Congress

On November 28-29, 2014, over 700 BEC leaders and formators coming from the 15 parishes of the diocese of Naval gathered at the Cathedral in Naval for the BEC Leaders’ Congress. This gathering was part of the diocesan celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese, the end of the Year of the Laity, and the 75th  birthday of Bishop Filomeno Bactol. The congress began at 1 pm with the opening prayer and welcome of Mgr. Marvyn Maceda, followed by the raffle draw. From 2:00 -3:30 pm, the guest speaker, Fr. Amado Picardal, CSsR gave a talk on “BECs: Pagpanaw nga Uban sa Nagdilaab nga Kasingkasing.” After the open forum, the Mass was celebrated by Bishop Filomeno Bactol with the parish priests concelebrating and Mgr. Marvyn Maceda as homilist. In the evening, dinner and cultural presentation took place at the Gymnasium of the Naval State University which ended at past 10 pm. The following morning, the jubilee Mass was held together with the formal closing of the Year of the Laity, the launching of the Year of the Poor and birthday celebration of the bishop. This was concelebrated by all the priests of the diocese and attended by the religious sisters as well as the laity. After a sumptuous lunch, the BEC leaders and formators went home to their respective parishes.
